SmallRig MagicFIZ Released – Wireless Lens Control Ecosystem

SmallRig has just introduced its first wireless follow focus system, the MagicFIZ. It includes a focus motor, a handwheel controller, and a handgrip for different configurations. The claimed working range is 100m/328ft. The Basic Kit retails for $299. Chinese accessory manufacturer SmallRig is rapidly expanding their focus from rigging solutions to a whole camera and lighting ecosystem. Only this year, the company introduced their first COB LED spotlights, the RC120 and RC220 series, and also launched three V-lock batteries (50, 99, and 155Wh). Although they already offer a manual follow focus accessory, the SmallRig Mini Follow Focus, their newly released MagicFIZ system seems to confirm their intention of adventuring into other market segments. According to the company, it can reach operating distances of up to 100m/328ft, providing a stable connection with low latency. All units can be powered via USB-C (5-16.8V), which is a huge advantage over the Micro USB interface of the similarly priced Tilta Nucleus Nano (which, by the way, will soon have a successor).
